We’re Alex + Melanie, the sister behind FYFAie, with a shared passion to discover a place through it’s authentic food and most passionate artisans.
After Alex was diagnosed with food intolerance, we changed our life by changing what we eat. Combined with her knowledge about the environment Alex spent all her adult life studying food processing and the impact of the processed food industry on our bodies and environment. Over 10 years ago, the alternative health industry didn’t have the best reputation and was hardly available especially when travelling. We chose not to accept calling up for change and spreading awareness about food as craftsmanship and cultural heritage against the loss of traditional food and cuisine towards healthy and real food.

And that’s what we did: we crafted innovative food tourism concepts including our Alternative City Food Guide (Germany) before we decided to move to the country of our dreams Ireland. Both of us invested our life’s savings into making FYFA, bought film equipment and started to build an independent food & drink platform that inspires and links people to authentic and local food & drink businesses and their experiences.
We wanted to be handcrafted ourselves. Everything we do is homemade by FYFA, from our website to the videos we produce. After many tears, sweat, laughter and joy we’ve created a holistic user experience based on storytelling to inspire people to travel a new way.

Having completed an engineering degree in landscape architecture at the green university of applied sciences in Munich, Germany, Alex quickly realised that she has to combine her design skills and knowledge of the environment with her undeniable obsession with food. Having food intolerance she spent all her adult life studying food processing. Fed up with industrially processed food, Melanie + Alex started campaigns like “We choose not to accept” for change, She now indulges in spreading awareness about food as cultural heritage by giving access to the authentic Irish ingredients, craftsmanship + the people who make it.

Having a business degree with main focus in the subject field marketing, Melanie spent 15+ years working internationally for reputable brands in business operation with positions in marketing + sales as well as finance. She loves to travel and to discover the true sense of a place through food and most passionate artisans. Melanie now delights in linking independent businesses with the right tools and support which allows them to grow in a network. Through FYFA she wants to give access to local communities, one-of-a-kind businesses, their distinctive character and their unique product diversity.
